The centre of any Home Automation solution is the controller. It is the brain of the network and controls communications with all other devices.
There are many options when selecting a controller. It really comes down to how much effort you want to put in. Some solutions (like the Fibaro and Vera controllers) provide you with a fully graphical app/website where you can set things up with relative ease, where a “build it yourself” option like the Raspberry Pi running OpenHab will require more of your time learn and set things up.
